Fours spot filled by former alternate
German men’s fours skip Marc Muskatewitz is leaving the four-player game… but will remain a Rock League player.
Muskatewitz, 30, is believed to be the second player to step away from traditional fours or mixed doubles competition – the two routes to world and Olympic competitions – in favour of The Curling Group’s pro league effort, which made its debut in Toronto two weeks ago.
The first was Japan’s Chinami Yoshida, who departed Team Fujisawa and remains a captain of the Rock League Typhoon franchise.

“After much consideration, our skip Marc has decided to step away from competitive sport for personal reasons,” read a team posting.
“Our time together has been very defining for us as a team. We celebrated successes, overcame challenges, and grew both athletically and as a unit. Marc played an important role both on and off the ice and had a significant impact on shaping our team.
“We are very grateful for his commitment, his reliability, and the many moments we shared.
“Even though he will no longer be part of the team, Marc will remain involved in curling and continue to be active in the Rock League.
“We wish him all the best for the future.”
The former Team Muskatewitz has moved Mario Trevisiol into the full lineup from alternate position.
Under Muskatewitz, the Germans won a surprise European gold medal in 2024 and followed that up with solid play at various Grand Slam of Curling tour stops.
At the Olympic Games at Cortina d’Ampezzo, the squad scored a 4-5 won/loss record – one win out of DSC playoff contention – tied with Italy and USA.
