As the shock news of Briar Schwaller-Hürlimann’s dismissal from world champions Team Tirinzoni spread, other Swiss women’s teams braced themselves for the inevitable raiding party.

Team Michèle Jäggi was the eventual target, and the squad revealed that Selina Witschonke was departing to join the Tirinzoni gang.

Tirinzoni’s social media accounts later confirmed the move.

“With her talent, commitment, and understanding of the game, (Witschonke) will strengthen our team heading to the 2026 Olympics,” posted Team Tirinzoni.

Jäggi’s foursome was a new team, recently assembled after the split of Team Raphaela Keiser on Mar. 25.

Team Keiser won bronze at the Swiss Championships in February, where Tirinzoni defeated Corrie Hürlimann in the final.

Keiser and Witschonke won world junior bronze for Switzerland in 2019. Witschonke competed in five consecutive world junior championships from 2016 to 2020, and also won bronze at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway.

Witschonke is 25, four years younger than Schwaller-Hürlimann. Her new teammates range in age from 43 (Silvana Tirinzoni) to 30 (second Carole Howald).
