Four-time world champion Glenn Howard is joining Switzerland at the upcoming world men’s championships in Moose Jaw, Sask.
The hall-of-fame skip from Canada has joined Team Yannick Schwaller’s coaching staff in a one-time collaboration for the worlds, although there is an option to extend the deal.
“With Glenn Howard, the team is gaining an absolute expert in the sport, who has decades of experience and an impressive tactical understanding,” said SWISSCURLING in a release. “His successes at the highest international level make him an ideal addition to the team.”

The move follows the appointment of retired Swiss world champion and Olympic medal skip Mirjam Ott to the Silvana Tirinzoni squad, which is into the playoffs at the world women’s championship in Korea with an 8-1 won/loss record.
Tirinzoni’s only loss came to Canada’s Rachel Homan on Thursday. Canada was tied for second place at 7-2 heading into their second Thursday match against Japan.
“I am incredibly excited to join Team Schwaller as their coach for the world championship,” said Howard.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a talented group of athletes who have already proven their potential on the international stage. I look forward to sharing my experience and helping the team reach new heights.”
In Moose Jaw Howard will work with Schwaller’s Norwegian coach Havard Vad Petersson, the former lead for Team Thomas Ulsrud.
Howard recently coached his son to a runner-up finish at the Ontario men’s championship, after stints coaching the Jennifer Jones and Chelsea Carey women’s teams.
Howard last international coaching venture was with Scotland’s Eve Muirhead, when she placed fourth at the PyeongChang Olympic Winter Games in 2018.
Howard retired from high-performance curling in April of last year.
